The surveys conducted in Oğuzeli District of Gaziantep Province in 2016 were carried out between 15-30 August 2016.
The Doğanpınar Dam Lake Area, which is under construction and planned to be flooded in 2017, was prioritised in the field studies, and then the Sacır Valley, where the Doğanpınar dam will be built, was prioritised. In 2016, cultural assets registered in previous years were prioritised. In this way, the current status of the cultural assets examined in the region in previous years was investigated and their current destruction status was determined.
In the identification of archaeological sites outside the registered cultural assets, old and new satellite photographs, various notes and maps in the old travelogues that we could reach were of great help. However, interviews with the inhabitants of the villages visited in the region have undoubtedly had a greater impact on the identification of new archaeological sites.
